Our local convenience store or gas station is often an overlooked pillar of the community. Serving countless individuals daily, these establishments become an integral part of people's lives, providing a multitude of services that help to make everyday life easier. However, the secret to their success lies in maintaining a clean, inviting environment, an aspect often maintained by the unsung heroes of these businesses - their employees. A clean convenience store or gas station does more than just attract customers; it instills a sense of accomplishment and service in employees and can make their jobs more pleasant and rewarding.
A forecourt is a customer's first interaction with your gas station or convenience store, influencing their decision to step inside. More than ever before, a clean, welcoming, and safe environment can persuade customers to leave the pump area and explore your food offerings. The increased focus on cleanliness since the COVID-19 pandemic serves to further underline the importance of these factors.
Keeping Your Forecourt Clean and Welcoming: How to Clean Your Fuel Station Forecourt Quickly and Strategically
Operating a fuel station can be a demanding and complex business. One of the most significant challenges faced by fuel station operators is maintaining adequate staffing levels. When short-staffed, it becomes crucial to prioritize tasks and concentrate on specific areas at certain times. One area that must not be neglected is the forecourt's cleanliness. However, there are ways to save time and reduce labor costs by cleaning the forecourt quickly and strategically.
Cleanliness should be a top priority for every c-store owner, especially those venturing into the QSR space. Whether it's the exterior of your store, the restrooms, or the food service area, maintaining high standards of cleanliness is crucial. Not only does it contribute to a positive customer experience, but it also plays a significant role in driving customer loyalty and business growth. So, don't underestimate the power of a clean store—it can be the difference between a one-time visit and a lifetime of repeat customers.
A clean and inviting forecourt can make all the difference when it comes to attracting customers to your convenience store. We have a simple solution to help you efficiently manage store maintenance: the powerful combination of EXIMO® + OTIS.

As the winter months come to an end, convenience stores are gearing up for the busy summer season. Fortunately, EXIMO®, a product created by CAF Outdoor Cleaning, can help convenience stores clean their forecourts and get ready for the 100 Days of Summer.

Cleaning the outside of your facility during the winter can be difficult. With rain, snow, ice, and freezing temperatures getting in the way, it can be easy to forget about cleaning. However, if you stop cleaning the outside of your facility during the winter, then you run the risk of losing new and existing customers to competitors that do keep up with cleaning during the wintertime. Make sure your store is clean and safe during the winter months by learning how to use CAF products and maintain a clean facility with the fluctuating temperatures.
With the holidays approaching, many individuals are taking their cooking outside where they dunk their turkeys in frying oils or roast them on grills. It is advised that you should always take precautions when deep frying a turkey because it can have dangerous results. There is also another unfortunate result that can occur from these cooking methods: cooking grease and oil leaving stains on your concrete.
Winter weather conditions are well known for creating icy sidewalks that can be a slipping hazard for many people. A common method for combatting icy sidewalks is usually rock salts. However, using rock salts and other chloride-based de-icers is a messy process that is corrosive to metal and concrete, unreliable at providing uniform coverage across walkways, and harmful to the environment. Thankfully, there is now SAFE PATH™ Liquid De-Icer and Pretreat, new from CAF. SAFE PATH is an easier and faster de-icing solution that can help prevent as well as remove ice after it has bonded to a surface.

Diesel and oil stains can be stubborn to clean off concrete, especially if the residue has formed a tough barrier. To break up these heavier clusters of fuel and obtain a deeper clean, use this Heavy Duty Cleaning Process that combines OTIS Multi-Surface Cleaner and EXIMO® Waterless Concrete Cleaner.

To learn how to get a clean gas pump, follow the steps below.
As electric vehicles (EV) increase in popularity, more and more EV charging stations are popping up. To extend the life of your EV charging station, use this top to bottom EV charging station cleaning method.

Asphalt is a durable surface that is well known for being used for parking lots, driveways, drive thrus, and forecourts. When taken care of properly, asphalt can last a long time but because it is a porous surface, it is susceptible to degradation. Gasoline and oil stains on asphalt can deteriorate the surface which can lead to damage like potholes. However, by utilizing FORO on your asphalt, you can get rid of the oil stains as well as strengthen and protect your asphalt.

Understanding the importance of why clean stores consistently sell more products, have more loyal customers and earn higher profits requires knowing the importance of product pairing with best in class employee training and support.
Industry insiders don’t always recognize the store level the need for cleaner environments and how that impacts today’s customer expectations. They are quick to formulate standard industry practices such as cutting prices, implement loyalty programs, promotional campaigns and discounts, and better advertisements using signage and POP displays. These are just some of the push items that only skim the surface but don’t get right down to the dirt, literally, of what brings a customer from the pump to the store.
What is bioremediation?
Bioremediation is a naturally occurring process where small organisms called microbes, through a biological process clean up contaminated soil, groundwater and even hard surfaces. Bioremediation facilitates the growth of microbes that use contaminants as a source of food and energy.
Bioremediation has been successfully used to clean up many polluted sites including retail and commercial businesses, personal residences. It has also been used in the treatment of notorious spills such as the 2010 BP Deepwater Horizon and the 1989 Exxon Valdez spill.
Despite the lingering chills that might suggest otherwise, spring is upon us. This fresh season beckons a renewed vigor in many aspects, especially for industries focusing on customer service and brand maintenance. In the convenience and retail fuel environment, spring signifies not just a change in weather, but also an opportunity to rejuvenate brand standards.
Spring into the season by ridding your storefronts and forecourts of the winter dirt and grime.
Oil stained concrete and asphalt are quite prevalent in the retail fuel environment. Left untreated, hydrocarbons in the oil begin breaking down binders that hold these materials together, creating potholes, larger stains, and an unsightly mess. Many look to pressure washing only to learn that doing so pushes the oil deeper into the pores of the surface - just to return days later!
Bioremediation is the EPA's recommended solution that uses microbes to breakdown hydrogen and carbon-based substances (like hydrocarbons) found in the environment, such as oil and gasoline. Bioremediation is nothing new - in fact, it dates back to nearly 600 B.C., first discovered by the Romans who used this method to treat their water supplies. Centuries later, these microbes continue to protect the environment by ridding it of harmful chemicals.

The ongoing challenge for independent retailers to uphold their brand's image is a widely acknowledged issue within the wholesaler community. Every wholesaler has encountered the disconnect between a brand’s lofty standards and the gritty, day-to-day realities retailers face. And even for those who feel somewhat aligned with their brand's expectations, achieving a consistent level of cleanliness remains a daunting task.
C-stores must IMPROVE overall store cleanliness just to MAINTAIN current mystery shop and brand image scores! That's right! A recent study in the annual CSP/Service Intelligence Mystery Shop indicates that average mystery shop scores, across the convenience industry as a whole, are on the rise. "In 2012, the average overall score for mystery-shop participants was 85.2%. In 2013, that average jumped to 90.8%. It was 91.9% in 2014 - and rose to 92.5% in 2015."
Fast forward to 2017 mystery shop results and you'll find they've reached an astounding 93.4% overall average score! With the increased focus on foodservice offerings, and subsequent need to elevate store cleanliness and the customer's experience, it comes as no surprise.
In regions with high humidity or establishments with equipment that can be a breeding ground for moisture, like commercial ice machines or coolers, it's not uncommon to witness the unsightly spread of moss, algae, and mildew. These growths can not only mar the appearance of your premises but also potentially compromise the structural integrity of materials if left unchecked. This makes moss, algae, and mildew removal very important.
In today's fast-paced world, service stations and fuel centers are always bustling with customers. While it's essential to ensure quick and efficient service, station owners must also prioritize the longevity and appearance of their equipment. Regular cleaning and maintenance, especially of gas pumps, can not only safeguard against potential damages but also enhance the overall customer experience. This is where the role of products like LUXSS becomes pivotal.
Social media has undeniably reshaped our global landscape. This evolution is particularly evident in how businesses, like c-stores, communicate and engage with their target audience. The fact remains that a large number of c-stores are yet to fully embrace the potential of social media engagement, even though it has skyrocketed to the pinnacle of modern retail communication.
The fusion of online and offline shopping activities is becoming more seamless, as consumers switch between channels and devices during their shopping journey. To elevate the customer experience, c-stores should craft a compelling shopping narrative. (An example of a shopping story might help clarify this concept for readers.) It's crucial for c-stores to pinpoint their target customers and discern their favored social platforms. Research from CSNews indicates that many c-stores aren't harnessing social media as a chief tool to amplify customer experience.
While trash cans are convenient to keep garbage and waste on the inside, over time they can accumulate filth and residue on the outside (especially industrial bins.) You've seen it: customers trying to slam their partially empty soda cup and missing, or pretending to be Stephen Curry by shooting their sack of fast food garbage over the car- only to have it clunk on the top of the garbage can, spilling milkshake everywhere. We just shake our heads at this. And if we can't get to it quickly on hot summer days, it seems to dry and harden instantly. Here is an effortless way to clean the garbage stains and dried on drips from your trash cans...fast & easy without scrubbing or using harsh chemicals!
Summer is here and travelers are eager to hit the open road. On the way to their destination they will stop to refuel and hopefully grab a bite to eat. If you are a convenience store retailer, you know that customer experience will drive-in summer sales or drive out additional sales. With consumers now turning to C-stores to purchase a variety of food offerings, it is essential that your facilities meet their expectations for cleanliness. Food service excellence and cleanliness, inside and out, go hand-in-hand. The cleanliness of your store’s exterior and the condition of your bathrooms can have a huge effect on inside store purchases.

The Crucial Role of Employee Training in C-Stores and Gas Stations: Enhancing Customer Experience Through Cleanliness
The bustling environment of c-stores and gas stations, with customers hurrying in and out, can often overshadow an essential aspect of the customer experience: cleanliness. Imagine a well-lit gas station forecourt, free of trash, with sparkling clean pumps and inviting displays inside. It's not just about aesthetics; it's about ensuring a positive customer experience that encourages them to step inside and make additional purchases. At the core of achieving this standard lies an often underemphasized element: employee training.
In the timeless tale of "Beauty and the Beast" by Gabrielle-Suzanne Barbot de Villeneuve, we are reminded that external appearances heavily influence our initial perceptions. Similarly, in the realm of retail, the first impression of a c-store plays a pivotal role in the overarching customer experience. If a store’s exterior is unkempt or grimy, it may deter even the most loyal customers. Hence, it becomes imperative to prioritize the store's facade, as this directly ties into the brand's identity and the customers' overall experience.
In retail the ultimate goal is to SELL MORE! These days, consumer habits and expectations change rapidly. To meet increasing sales goals, you must adapt quickly to the changing landscape. Sometimes you have all the right plans and strategy in place, but the sales don’t follow. Why? Poor execution.
In the past, customer experience expectations were set by a customer’s next best choice, namely the experience provided by a competitor not too far down the road.
However, with the evolution of online reviews and the new emphasis on food service, today’s customer expectations have skyrocketed. It’s a game changer. Your old competition is no longer the benchmark. Now, you compete with the best, recent retail experience anywhere and from any industry. How do you stack up against your recent retail experiences? New industry leaders like Amazon, Uber and others have conditioned your customers to expect more in return, and in some part, more than maybe you are willing to deliver.
Perhaps in direct contrast to a growing movement in the industry towards delighting customers, it’s time for fuel retailers to wake up and STOP wasting money on simply delighting their customers. Fuel retailers are constantly looking for that “next thing” to help them stand out from the competition, but too commonly are focusing on attributes that only delight their customers and not the things that differentiate them from the competition.
Preventing Fuel Loss and Costly Repairs According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA), 41 million fill-ups happen daily nationwide - so it should come as no suprise that many station owners report drive offs as a monthly occurance. Breakaways were designed to prevent fuel loss and costly repairs due to drive offs. When a customer leaves the nozzle in their tank and drives off, the breakaway disconnects and stops fuel from leaking out of the hose. But what happens when there is cracking due to UV damage along the breakaway whip hoses that allow those breakaways to pull apart correctly? You guessed it... fuel loss and costly repairs!
After taking the time to clean equipment, go the extra mile and make it look even nicer for your customers by polishing it. Polishing with PROTERO® does more than just shine and impress; PROTERO® adds a protective finish and can prevent future stains and damages. This process will remove everything from fingerprints, smoke film, scuffs, dirt and grime, and prevent UV damage by leaving behind a non-oily, silicone-based film to shine and protect!
It’s fair to say that in business you must spend money to make money.
It’s also true that creating efficiencies to decrease operating costs will allow you to expand your business activities. We know that the two largest expenses in a c-store are labor and inventory. Reducing either category requires careful planning and consideration of all programs within the store. It takes time to build successful programs and implement cost-cutting measures.
SUMPUR™ Spill Bucket Cleanout Kit is a comprehensive system designed to safely and quickly remove liquids from spill containment manholes without having to kneel down and scrub.
Fix Chipped Paint and Scuff Marks - No Mess, No Clean Up! Have you ever had a paint job ruined but it wasn't quite bad enough to justify breaking out the paint cans, brushes, tape, and tarps to fix it... or the hassle to clean them once your done? Not to mention thoughts of how its just going to get ruined again once you do. Painted surfaces are affected every day by weather, vandalism, site accidents, and aging over time. Things like canopy poles, island curbs, dispenser panels, skirts, and protective bollards near your pumps and store front can all show signs of damaged paint and scuff marks.
Imagine a customer driving into a c-store and they immediately notice that the store looks different. They’ve been here many times before but something just seems brighter, fresher, more organized. Then it dawns on them…the c-store they passively visit from time to time now seems more attractive and inviting. Yes, it’s been their destination to buy gas for years, but because the forecourt looked disorganized, dirty and upkept, they never wanted to visit the interior of the store.

When Preparing Your C-Store For Warmer Weather, It's About Working Smarter, Not Harder.
The status quo for convenience retailers has evolved over the years. A dirty fuel station with unsightly fuel stains, food and beverage spills, or growing bacteria and mold is no longer acceptable to a new generation of customers. You can no longer afford to overlook cleanliness... because your customers won't. Sadly, many retailers today do understand this and are focused on being clean but have found that doing so can be extremely costly and that it's very difficult to achieve real results.
We want to help! Here are a couple of tips that can save you time and money on two of the most common challenges you face in your forecourt cleaning efforts.
What We Don’t Recommend
Pressure Washing Pressure washing is the common method retailers chose to clean their concrete pads, dispensers, and canopies but it comes with its fair share of disadvantages. Pressure washing can be costly, damaging, time consuming, and involve a significant amount of risk. It also forces you to shut down the fuel lanes being cleaned and that can be an extremely inconvenient and costly. Not only does pressure washing come with a steep price, the results are little more than a couple weeks... or less, of having a clean forecourt! The average cost for a standard pressure wash is about $250. If you are in an area that requires water reclamation to conform to strict environmental regulations, then the cost can exceed $1000 each time. Not to mention each time you pressure wash you are weakening the cement and damaging other areas leaving you with even more costs to bear.
Recommendation: Find a product solution that eliminates or significantly reduces the frequency of pressure washing, minimizes your fuel lane’s down time, and does not damage your forecourt and equipment. Also look for a product that is safe, easy to use, and that your employees can apply in-house without wasting valuable time or require a small fortune to do. Learn More!
What We Don’t Recommend
Using “Off the Shelf” Cleaners Did you know that many of the commonly used household cleaning products such as Windex®, 409®, Bleach, and Simple Green® are not meant for industrial cleaning? Did you also know that they can be damaging to your fueling equipment? A great rule of thumb is - if you would not consider using a product to clean a brand new car.... you shouldn't consider using it to clean expensive fueling equipment. Using inferior cleaning products makes the job harder and wastes valuable time. As such, employees tasked with the responsibility get discouraged and accept sub-standard results - or worse... grab cleaners that are NOT recommended for use on fueling dispensers, nozzles and other surfaces. Many ready to use “off the shelf” cleaners contain alcohol or ammonia which can discolor, haze, dry-out, and even melt many exterior surfaces like plastic, vinyl, Plexiglas, oxidized finish coats on metals and more. Put simply... they are doing more harm to your equipment than good.
Recommendation: Look for products designed specifically for the industry cleaning challenges you face and that have been tested safe for the equipment you use them on. Using the right tools for the job makes all of the difference and shouldn't cost you an arm and a leg. Most retailers are surprised to learn that using the right cleaning solutions actually saved them money both in direct costs and labor savings.

It is easy to think that once chewing gum is stuck on the concrete – flattened and weathered – that it is permanently there. Learn how to maintain the appearance and protect the longevity of your fuel dispensers with PROTERO Metal Polish. Keep your dispensers looking pristine, protected from UV damage, and reflecting professionalism.
For businesses in the fuel industry, maintaining clean fuel dispensers is crucial not only for aesthetics but also for functionality and safety. Over time, fuel dispensers can get encrusted with grime, including hardened diesel residues, which can be challenging to remove. Harsh chemicals often don't do the job well and can be environmentally harmful. That's where OTIS Multi-Surface Cleaner steps in to deliver impressive results with less effort.
Maintaining the Cleanliness of Your Trash Cans: An Eco-Friendly Approach
Trash cans, while indispensable in our daily lives, can become unsightly if not regularly cleaned. While they're designed to contain waste on the inside, it's not uncommon for them, especially industrial-sized bins, to accumulate dirt, grime, and residue on the outside. This not only looks unappealing but can also become a breeding ground for bacteria and pests. Cleaning them, however, doesn't require strenuous scrubbing or aggressive chemicals. With the following method, you can easily maintain the cleanliness of your trash cans in an environmentally-friendly manner.
Why Regular Cleaning is Essential: Over time, residues from waste, spills, and even atmospheric conditions can accumulate on the exterior of the trash can. This can lead to unpleasant odors, and in the case of industrial cans, might impact the brand image of a business. Regular cleaning ensures hygiene and projects an image of cleanliness and orderliness.
Battling Stubborn Soda Stains: Your Ultimate Guide
For anyone managing convenience stores or gas stations, you understand the impact of a clean environment on your brand image and customer experience. Among the array of messes, the lingering soda stain can often be one of the most stubborn to address. With its sugary composition and sometimes dark color, soda spills can transform from a simple spill to an unattractive, sticky blemish on your establishment's concrete surfaces. Thankfully, with the right tools and techniques, you can ensure those spills don’t diminish your store’s appeal.
Why Soda Spills Are Problematic: Soda contains a combination of sugars, acids, and sometimes coloring. When it spills, the liquid evaporates, but these components remain, creating a sticky residue that attracts dirt and debris. Over time, this can result in a noticeable, and often challenging, stain.
Keep It Consistent: For best results and to prevent the buildup of stubborn stains, consider adopting a routine cleaning schedule. Regular maintenance not only ensures a clean environment but also enhances the longevity of your concrete surfaces.

It's not a secret that the C-store and gas station squeegee experience can sometimes be a source of unpleasant odors, turning a simple task into an off-putting experience for many customers. Yet, with the right solution, not only can you eliminate these odors, but you can also enhance the effectiveness of the windshield cleaning process. Here’s a simple method to transform the olfactory landscape of your gas station, one squeegee bucket at a time.
Gas stations are more than just refueling stops; they're part of the driving experience. By taking the extra step to provide an odor-free, effective cleaning solution for windshields, you elevate the customer experience. With ORUS Ultra Concentrate Glass Cleaner, both the customers and their cars can leave feeling refreshed.
After taking the time to clean equipment, go the extra mile to polish and make it look nice for your customers. Polishing does more than shine and impress; if done the right way it adds a protective finish and can prevent future stains and damages. This process will remove everything from finger prints, smoke film, scuffs, dirt and grime, and leave behind a non-oily, silicone-based film to shine and protect!
It can be difficult for customers to try and clean their windshields during the chilly, winter months. If your squeegee bucket’s cleaner fluid freezes, then it could drive away potential customers. To ensure that your windshield cleaner fluid doesn’t freeze anymore, follow these easy instructions, utilizing FRIGO® Winter Additive.
Summer is in full swing and with it, summer activities! Camping! Boating! Hikes! And most importantly...road trips! Throughout the summer months, there will be no shortage of travelers making a stop to your business to refuel and/or grab a quick bite to eat before returning to the road. Many of those travelers will be making quick decisions based on brand recognition but more importantly, the influences of your bathrooms and forecourts will weigh heavily towards a customer experience in generating more revenue towards food and retail purchases. In other words, the impact of cleanliness on customer experience can be felt directly in your bottom line.
For convenience store chains, maintaining a brand standard is essential for securing repeat business. Cleanliness plays a large part in shaping a brand, as well as customers’ purchasing decisions. A Harris Interactive poll found that 94% of more than 1,000 people who regularly visit a c-store would avoid a business in the future if they encountered dirty restrooms.
Every brand, like a person, offers a 'handshake' to its consumers — a promise of quality, service, and trustworthiness. In the world of convenience stores, the first handshake isn't metaphorical; it's quite tangible, occurring the moment a customer reaches for the gas-pump nozzle. What does that handshake communicate about your brand?
The Power of Cleanliness
Imagine a scenario: you're famished and walk into a restaurant, but the moment you step inside, you're greeted by stained floors, an unpleasant aroma, and untidy tables. Would you order a meal? Likely not. Similarly, if a customer approaches a c-store and is confronted with grimy gas pumps and unkempt surroundings, their immediate instinct would be to question the quality of in-store products. A 2009 M/A/R/C study has amplified this sentiment, revealing that besides competitive prices, cleanliness stands as the paramount reason customers opt for a particular c-store.
The idea of employing bacteria to rectify environmental messes might seem futuristic, but it is rooted deep in our history. The concept originated around 600 B.C. with the Romans ingeniously harnessing bacteria to purify their water. Fast-forward to the present day, and bacteria-driven solutions have evolved to combat various environmental hazards, notably the toxic remnants of oil and gas spills.
This bacterial intervention is coined as "bioremediation." At its core, bioremediation leverages naturally occurring microbes that thrive in our soil and groundwater. These microbes possess the unique ability to digest and transform harmful chemicals, like oil, into benign substances such as water and carbon dioxide.
The term "Customer Experience" (CX) has been a buzzword in the business world for quite some time. While many tout its importance, the pragmatic business owner might question, "Is there a genuine return on investment (ROI) in enhancing customer experience?" To answer this, we delve into a comprehensive study conducted by the Temkin Group.
Winter storms and cold temperatures can be hazardous. Although winter comes as no surprise, many of us are not ready for its arrival. If you are prepared for the hazards of winter, you will be able to keep your customers safe and healthy when temperatures start to fall. No matter what weather this winter brings, you can take steps today to make sure you and your stores are prepared!
In today's fast-paced retail environment, every detail counts when it comes to enticing and retaining customers. With numerous options available to consumers, businesses need more than just competitive prices or unique product offerings; they require an edge. As per the 2013 Convenience Store Survey by the Boston Consulting Group, the secret weapon many stores are overlooking is overall store cleanliness. The study discovered that while customers highly value cleanliness, it's a trait not frequently encountered. For retailers, this presents a unique opportunity to differentiate themselves in the market.
For many customers, the first point of interaction with a convenience store is the forecourt. If the gas pumps are dirty or there are visible stains and grime, it sets a negative tone. A customer's subconscious may interpret this dirtiness as a sign that the store is poorly managed, making them less inclined to trust the quality of products inside.
When it comes to the forecourt of gas stations and convenience stores, cleanliness isn't just a choice—it's a direct influence on customer trust, their experience, and overall sales. A pristine environment not only invites more customers but can significantly boost your in-store sales. Here’s why CAF Outdoor Cleaning’s products are the perfect solution to this ever-present need.
As part of a new Customer Excellence initiative, a CAF customer headquartered in Texas discovered several opportunities to improve their customer experience, cleanliness scores on outdoors areas, and the frequency of pressure washing at their stores. These improvements helped save them significant operational cost in their cleaning efforts.
The status quo for convenience retailers has evolved over the years and having a dirty store exterior is no longer an option. You can’t afford to overlook cleanliness any longer because your customers aren’t. Unfortunately, many retailers understand this and are focused on being clean but have found that doing so can be very costly and very difficult to achieve real results. We have provided some ideas on how to save you time and money on the two most common challenges that you face in your forecourt cleaning efforts.
Competition in the retail petroleum industry is stiff, especially if you are an Independent C-store Operator. Lately, retailers have been turning to loyalty cards or similar programs to help. The problem is that these programs are expensive to maintain, hard to quantify, and won’t truly set you apart anymore. The actual reasons why your customers might choose your store over the competition may come as a surprise to you. Did you know that loyalty and brand programs are NOT the #1 reason that your customers will choose to visit your location over another? Now we are not saying that loyalty programs, such as cards, are not valuable. We know they are, and when managed properly, they can be a great asset to a convenience store in growing sales and profit dollars. The issue that we are talking about is differentiating yourself from the “Big Box” retailer or the “Mom and Pop” store down the road from you doing the very same thing. We are talking about giving your customers another reason to choose your location over theirs.
Smart convenience retailers are focused on improving the customer experience at their store and many have turned to clean restrooms to do so. For some retailers, having clean restrooms has proven to be a key driver of in-store traffic. This is important because getting more of your customers to come inside the store is a HUGE opportunity when you consider that 65% of your profit dollars come from in-store sales . But did you know that on average 46% of your fuel station customers never come into the store? That’s a lot of lost opportunity for additional sales and profit dollars!
In today's competitive market, creating a lasting impression is more than just offering quality products or services. One element that plays a pivotal role but is often overlooked is cleanliness. At CAF Outdoor Cleaning, we believe that a clean environment can significantly impact a business's success, customer loyalty, and bottom line.
Discover strategies for C-store operators to thrive alongside major retail giants like Sam’s Club, Costco, Kroger, and Wal-Mart. Differentiate through customer service, cleanliness, convenience, localization, technology, community engagement, sustainability, and adaptability.
Is your Mystery Shop program a major pain in the “@#$”?! If so, you aren’t alone. Many other retailers feel your pain and believe there is a major disconnect between the Brand’s overwhelming expectations for them and the daily challenges they face. The truth is that mystery shops serve as a great way for you to get a fresh set of eyes on your store and to receive valuable feedback from an unbiased point of view about your customer experience. The mystery shopper’s observations are typically more aligned with those of your customers and embracing their feedback can prove invaluable as you strive to improve the customer experience at your stores.
Here at CAF, we don’t claim to be experts in tobacco retailing but we have noticed some alarming trends in the last few years that have been impacting our retail customers. In 2013, industry statistics show that more than 1/3 of your in-store revenue most likely came directly from tobacco sales and that nearly 1/4 of in-store visits yielded a purchase of cigarettes. That’s huge! But, as you know, tobacco sales are starting to decline and are predicted to continue to do so. On average, 18% of a C-store’s in-store profit dollars come from Cigarette sales – so that lost revenue really hurts!
Retailers are now challenged with finding new solutions to re-capture their in-store profits after the steady decline of cigarette sales and in-store traffic leads from pump sales. Many C-store operators are now turning to creative offerings such as fresh food items to generate sales and profit dollars. But they are finding that selling food items brings on a whole new set of challenges. Some you may not have considered! Have you thought about what the condition of your location says about the quality of the food items you are offering to your customers?
Do you have avoidable safety accidents and need help to prevent them? Workplace accidents are far too common. Each year, more than 2 million workers are injured severely enough on the job that they cannot return to work and need ongoing medical care. As an employer or manager, it's your job to help protect your employees from accidents that threaten their work and well being. Here are 10 tips that will help prevent costly safety claims from avoidable accidents in any business.
Removing Oil Stains From Concrete - 2 week time lapse video
Get a game plan getting clean can seem like a tough job. To make it easier, put together a cleaning schedule that maps out any areas that need improvement. Looking for a good checklist? Start with your mystery shop criteria. Set aside 15 minutes every day for each employee to work on a specific area.
Dirty Gas Pumps will kill your snack sales. In 2013 one third of in-store revenue came directly from tobacco sales. But in 2014 tobacco sales are on the decline. When 64% of your profit dollars come from in-store sales, that lost revenue hurts. So how are you going to replace those lost dollars? Smart C-stores are looking to fresh food offerings to save the day. If you’re like most c-stores, you have a wide variety of beverage options and great-tasting food items for customers to enjoy.

Looking for a successful way to get rid of oil stains on your concrete? You've come to the right place. Conventional methods of removing oil from concrete usually just mask the stain or spread it around - they don't actually remove the problem at all. So don't waste another minute cleaning your concrete the wrong way! Follow the instructions below for an effortless, eco-friendly solution that will eliminate your oil stains for good!
What You Will Need:
EXIMO Waterless Concrete Cleaner

TIP: One scoop = ¼ cup, enough to cover 55 ft2 (about the size of one parking space)
Keep the push broom in contact with the surface while applying light pressure to spread the EXIMO evenly over the stain.
TIP: Slowly sweep EXIMO forward and backward across the oil spot. Then sweep perpendicular to the previous motion to ensure the powder is evenly distributed.
Continue spreading EXIMO until the product is completely brushed into surface. No need to rinse off the area, but water will not harm the effectiveness of EXIMO.
Repeat this method once a week and stain will disappear in one month or less!

One of the quickest and easiest things you can due to spruce up the appearance of your site, is to polish and protect equipment after cleaning. Not only do customers notice and appreciate the extra care, but it can save you from fuel loss and expensive repairs. Preventing Fuel Loss and Costly Repairs Breakaways were designed to prevent fuel loss and costly repairs due to drive offs.
Being “Green” is no longer a revolution of the Green Movement—it’s a basic business philosophy that customers have come to expect. “Most U.S. consumers prefer companies that use environmentally-friendly products and practices, according to a recent Harris Interactive survey.” (Single Store Owner Magazine 03/2012).
